Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Substation Physical Designer to join a project team shaping high and extra high voltage substations. You will produce General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, Section Views, BOMs, grounding and conduit details, and related substation drawings.

The role requires 10+ years in substation physical design, a CAD-related degree or equivalent, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, plus the ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD aid.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years of substation physical design experience.
• An Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma and 2 or more years drafting course work or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of substation drawings including General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, Section Views and BOM.
• Produce Lightning Shielding Plan, Grounding Plan, Conduit, Grounding Details, and Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan.
• Detail drawings for Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting and related sections.
• Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
