Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Walnut Creek, CA is seeking a Substation Physical Designer to join a project team of engineers and designers focused on high and extra high voltage substations. This position offers a hybrid schedule with both office and remote work.

You will prepare detailed substation drawings such as General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Grounding and Protection details, and BOMs while applying client standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate’s Degree in Drafting or a high school diploma with 2+ years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation drawings: General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Section Views, BOM, Shielding Plan, Grounding Plan, Conduit details, Below Grade Conduit/Raceway, and Control Building Plans and Section.
• Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
• Perform walkdowns at client facilities.
• Apply Client's standards related to the work.
