Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Orlando, FL office seeks a Substation P&C Engineer with 4+ years of experience to lead complex utility-scale substation projects within the P&C practice. This is not a remote position.

You will act in a senior technical capacity on protection and control design for high-voltage substations, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and drive project delivery from diagrams to construction documentation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of protection & control engineering design.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; advanced degrees are a plus.
• PE or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Act in a senior technical capacity on P&C design deliverables for substations.
• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and allocate P&C personnel as needed.
• Produce substation P&C design packages for 4 kV to 500 kV, including 115 kV+ emphasis.
• Create one-line and three-line diagrams, I/O mappings, and schematics.
• Develop construction documentation and outage sequencing; support procurement.
• Support policy development, standards, and technical guidance for P&C practice.
• Lead client meetings and assist with proposals and tenders.
• Perform quality control reviews on protection packages; mentor junior engineers.
