Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Orlando, Florida office is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join our Power Delivery team. This is not a remote position.

You will perform HV/MV substation physical design, lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and interact with clients to meet project objectives. The role requires a PE license, AutoCAD proficiency, and experience with grounding studies, bus calculations, and CDEGS.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in Substation Physical Design.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD.
• Experience with grounding studies and lightning protection.
• Experience with bus calculation and CDEGS.

Responsibilities

• Perform HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for utilities.
• Perform engineering studies and calculations.
• Perform Quality Control reviews on substation physical design projects.
• Lead projects as technical lead with limited guidance.
• Create and review bill of materials for substation physical projects.
• Develop and review proposals and scopes of work for smaller substation physical projects.
• Plan and lead client meetings related to physical design.
• Provide mentorship and training guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients to meet project objectives.
• Develop leadership skills for future roles on the team.
