Job summary

Black & Veatch seeks a Senior Engineering Technician (Substation P&C Designer) to support the design and delivery of critical electrical infrastructure. You will contribute to protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and interconnection drawings for high‑voltage substations.

You will produce 2D/3D deliverables using Bentley MicroStation, AutoCAD, and related tools, collaborating with engineers and designers while respecting budgets, schedules, and quality standards

Qualifications

• Typically a minimum of 11 years related work experience.
• Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required.
• Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor
• Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline
• Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions
• Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
• Provides consultation, training, and oversight to other engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards
• Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards
