Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. seeks an experienced electrical substation design engineer to oversee engineering and consulting services nationwide.

The role focuses on creating physical substation layout deliverables, yard layouts, grounding, and protection schemes for projects from distribution upgrades to major transmission. You will lead proposals, estimates, and coordination with Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams, mentor junior engineers, and provide field support during construction

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years related experience (master's degree may substitute for one year).
• Professional Engineer registration strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI Standards.
• Excellent written- and verbal-communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead in preparation of proposals and scope development, including conceptual designs and execution plans.
• Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules.
• Lead in the execution of engineering activities: physical substation design incl. yard layouts, plans, sections, grounding, protection, and power systems.
• Lead coordination of design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, etc.
• Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members.
• Regularly meet with clients or outside personnel and perform quality reviews.
