Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Substation Engineer to oversee engineering and consulting services for clients nationwide. Responsibilities include conceptual designs, cost estimates, and physical yard layouts for substation projects of varying size and voltage levels.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of related experience, and PE registration is preferred. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential to coordinate

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years related experience (master's degree may substitute for one year).
• Professional Engineer registration strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standard.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual designs and execution plans.
• Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules.
• Physical substation design including yard layouts, plans, sections, grounding, protection, and power systems.
• Protection and control design including panel arrangements, one lines/single lines, AC/DC schematics.
• Calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, AC/DC load studies).
• Equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing.
• Lead coordination of design activities with other departments.
• Develop and improve processes, tools and/or technology implementations.
• Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
• Perform quality reviews for other engineers and designers.
• Provide short term field support during construction.
• Support business development and marketing initiatives.
