Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Senior Substation Engineer in Portland, OR, for a hybrid role focused on high‑voltage substation design and project management. You’ll lead project conceptualization, handle complex electrical design issues, and prepare client‑ready reports in collaboration with other engineers.

Requirements include a BS in Engineering with 7+ years in MV power systems, strong communication and planning skills, and proficiency in MS Office. ABET or PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree required.
• 7+ years experience in the design of Medium Voltage Power Systems.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
• Experience tracking project information such as schedules and expenditures against budgets, preparing status reports and client interface.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• A BSEE degree is preferable.
• 3+ years experience in the design of substations 138kV and above.
• AutoCAD experience.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in project conceptualization, work planning, and project execution.
• Investigate, trouble-shoot, and solve a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
• Prepare reports that present technical and project information clearly for client requirements and S&L formats.
• Share knowledge with peers through Communities of Practice.
• May travel to client sites as needed.
• This role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days.
• Relocation package offered depending on location.
