Job summary

American Electric Power, based in New Albany, Ohio (onsite), is seeking an experienced Station Engineer within the Transmission System Operations Engineering organization. You will support commissioning, outages review, and system documentation to ensure compliant, safe, and efficient grid operations.

You will lead engineering activities, mentor others, and apply root-cause analysis to improve facility ratings and processes.

Qualifications

• Requires ABET-accredited engineering degree or equivalent.
• PE license encouraged/preferred for advancement.
• Applicable in-depth knowledge of standards and regulations (NERC) and engineering processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for commissioning and verification of work on the transmission grid.
• Review upcoming system outages for applicable configuration changes.
• Review drawings and project information for alignment between as-built and records.
• Conduct root cause analysis on system discrepancies to drive improvements.
• Lead, coordinate and train other engineers; ensure compliance with policies and external regulations.
• Develop reports and communicate complex technical topics to management and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration across disciplines within AEP.
