Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Substation to lead and coordinate substation projects across multiple sites, including design, protection, and control for up to high voltage systems.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, client interaction, and mentoring of junior engineers, with opportunities for travel to client and vendor locations and sites. A PE license and extensive HV substation experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required or equivalent.
• Minimum 11 years related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide project coordination and guidance on assigned substation projects.
• Develop protection and control design deliverables including relays, diagrams, and wiring.
• Prepare electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
• Manage design budgets and schedules; oversee project execution.
• Support business development or pursuit activities.
• Travel to client and vendor offices or project sites for reviews and field verification.
