Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP in California seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead substation Protection & Control and physical design deliverables for a major utility client. You will prepare diagrams, wiring layouts, cables, and BOMs, coordinating with project managers and on-site teams.

Requirements: BS in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years in substation design, proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and strong written/verbal communication.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of substation design experience in utilities or consulting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Leads substation P&C and/or physical design, including field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates.
• Performs QA/QC review of junior engineers' submissions to ensure quality.
• Prepares CAD drawings of complex nature with neatness and minimal errors.
• Performs AC/DC load calculations for auxiliary equipment sizing.
• Conducts conduit, bus sizing, lighting/grounding analyses and related calculations.
• Ensures designs conform to client and industry standards.
• Communicates and coordinates with project manager, client, and others.
• Uses client/company systems to track design activities.
• Attends job site meetings to gather scope; may provide field support during construction.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
