Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead P&C and physical design deliverables for a major Southern California utility project. This hybrid position reports to the Substation Design Manager and requires close coordination with project teams, clients, and field staff.

Responsibilities include generating drawings, calculations, QA/QC reviews, and ensuring conformance to standards.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of experience in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Leads substation P&C and/or physical design, including preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates.
• Performs QA/QC reviews on designs submitted by junior engineers.
• Prepares CAD drawings and construction drawings with attention to quality and accuracy.
• Performs engineering calculations such as AC/DC load, conduit, bus sizing, and grounding analyses.
• Ensures designs conform to client and industry standards.
• Communicates with project manager, client, and others to coordinate activities.
• Attends job site meetings to gather scope of work; may provide field support during construction.
