Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in Substation Design to support power delivery projects for utility, municipal, and industrial clients.

This senior role requires a PE license and extensive HV substations experience, with leadership across multidisciplinary teams and field coordination. The candidate will lead design activities for substations 69kV–500kV, coordinate with protection, control, SCADA, and field teams, and ensure adherence to

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required at hire.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in substation or power delivery engineering.
• Strong understanding of substation equipment, protection philosophies, and utility standards.
• Proven ability to lead technical tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of new, expanded, and upgraded electrical substations (69kV–500kV).
• Develop and review substation designs including layouts, bus configurations, grounding, raceways, and equipment foundations.
• Perform and review electrical calculations (ground grid, short-circuit, relay coordination, AC/DC design).
• Prepare construction drawings, specifications, reports, and material lists.
• Coordinate substation design with protection and control, SCADA, and communications teams.
