Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in substation design to lead high‑voltage projects for utilities and industrial clients.

This senior role requires a PE license and 8+ years in substation or power delivery engineering, with hands‑on skills in protection, control, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams. You will mentor junior staff, produce drawings and specifications, and ensure adherence to IEEE, NESC, NFPA, and other

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (required at hire).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in substation or power delivery engineering.
• Experience with electric utilities, transmission and distribution companies, or power industry clients.
• Strong understanding of substation equipment, protection philosophies, and utility standards.
• Proven ability to lead technical tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of substations (69kV–500kV) and develop layouts, configurations, grounding and raceways.
• Perform electrical calculations including ground grid, short‑circuit, relay coordination, and AC/DC design.
• Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, design reports, and material lists.
• Coordinate substation design with protection, control, SCADA, and communications teams.
• Provide quality control reviews of drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers; support project managers with scope, cost, and scheduling.
