Job summary

Eversource Energy in the United States is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the development and implementation of tests and commissioning for highly complex transmission and distribution substations. You will supervise engineers, ensure safety, and coordinate with System Test and Protection & Controls Engineering.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred), 8–10 years of utility experience, a valid CT/MA driver's license, and willingness to travel or be on-call.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering knowledge focused on substation testing and commissioning.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; master's preferred.
• Minimum 8–10 years in utility distribution/transmission engineering.
• Valid CT/MA driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure complex substation projects are tested and commissioned per industry and Eversource standards with focus on safety and reliability.
• Assist in developing standards and procedures for test and commissioning of substation projects.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure consistency and teamwork.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for commissioning.
• Coach and develop engineers and staff; supervise direct reports as assigned.
• Manage costs and performance of assets; monitor reliability and events.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance optimization programs.
• Provide technical support during normal and emergency conditions.
• Coordinate with Investment Planning on project justification and financial aspects.
• Evaluate and select technology and equipment for the system.
• Develop standards for design, operation and maintenance; potentially serve as Project Manager.
