Job summary

Hitachi Energy seeks an experienced Automation Engineer in Raleigh, NC, to design and deploy substation automation solutions. You’ll work with MicroSCADA, IEC 61850, Modbus, and DNP3 to deliver reliable energy systems while ensuring cybersecurity and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in substation automation or industrial control systems.
• Hands-on with MicroSCADA configuration and deployment.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61850 and related communication protocols.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity standards for automation systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Candidate must have work authorization for the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design and configure substation automation systems using MicroSCADA.
• Develop communication architectures with IEC 61850, Modbus, and DNP3.
• Create HMI screens and RTU logic for real-time monitoring and control.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely delivery and quality.
• Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities on-site and remotely.
• Troubleshoot and optimize system performance for maximum reliability.
• Engage with customers to refine designs and enhance system functionality.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies.
