Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Senior Project Lead Engineer to drive substation automation design and delivery. You will lead technical design, coordinate multi-disciplinary activities, and engage customers to ensure world-class execution of projects.

The role requires 10+ years in substation automation, hands-on testing with DOBLE/OMICRON, and strong knowledge of SCADA, protection systems, and communication protocols. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in substation automation projects.
• Strong knowledge of SCADA, protection systems, and communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, GOOSE).
• Hands-on experience with electrical testing using DOBLE and OMICRON equipment.
• Familiarity with utility substation operations and standards.
• Candidate must already have work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and engineering deliverables for substation automation projects.
• Configure and test SCADA systems, protective relays, and communication devices.
• Perform electrical testing using DOBLE and OMICRON equipment.
• Coordinate project activities across design, production, and commissioning phases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Engage with customers to optimize solutions and maintain high satisfaction.
• Support project managers with technical input for proposals and risk assessments.
• Drive continuous improvement and share best practices across teams.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
