Job summary
Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking an Automation Engineer to design and deploy substation automation solutions leveraging MicroSCADA and IEC 61850 to deliver reliable power systems.
You will configure communication architectures, develop HMIs, and support testing, commissioning, and on-site deployment while collaborating with global teams to ensure security and performance across projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in substation automation or industrial control systems.
- Experience with MicroSCADA configuration and deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design and configure substation automation systems using MicroSCADA.
- Develop communication architectures with IEC 61850, Modbus, and DNP3.
- Create HMI screens and RTU logic for real-time monitoring and control.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely delivery and quality.
- Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities on-site and remotely.
- Troubleshoot and optimize system performance for maximum reliability.
- Engage with customers to refine designs and enhance system functionality.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies.
