Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• Active NJ State Bar membership required.
• 4+ years of litigation experience including insurance defense, subrogation, personal injury, property damage litigation, or related areas.
• Ability to independently manage a substantial litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Experience conducting depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and other proceedings.
• Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, strategy, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LexisNexis, and legal research platforms.
• Ability to collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, claims professionals, and support staff.
• Willingness to travel throughout New Jersey for court appearances and related proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex auto and property subrogation litigation from investigation through resolution.
• Investigate and evaluate subrogation opportunities, liability, and damages; develop recovery strategies.
• Lead negotiations with carriers, attorneys, and third parties for favorable recoveries.
• Review file assignments and develop litigation strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Provide legal counsel on risks, opportunities, and case strategy to claims and stakeholders.
• Prepare witnesses, conduct depositions, and represent the company in hearings and trials.
• Analyze claims files, expert reports, and authorities to support strategy and recoveries.
• Prepare and argue pre-trial and post-trial motions and settlement proceedings.
• Monitor developments in laws and regulations affecting subrogation recoveries.
