Job summary

RTX in Middletown, CT, is seeking a Structural Analyst to provide analytical support for aircraft engine components, including airfoils, rotors, shafts, and cases. The role focuses on durability, fatigue life and kinematic analyses using FEM and classical methods.

The position requires a BS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years or an Advanced degree with 3+ years, and U.S. citizenship. Onsite role with relocation benefits and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) with 5+ years of experience OR
• Advanced degree with 3+ years of experience
• Experience using FEM for stress/deflection, vibration, and performing LCF, HCF, Fracture Mechanics or Kinematics analyses
• Background in structural analysis
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

• Provide analytical support for preliminary & detailed design, through development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service.
• Cover validation testing (engine and rig) and data-reduction.
• Support in-service field investigations.
• Use FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses.
• Participate on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight.
• Provide oversight and technical guidance for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks.
• Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
• Document and present results to management and external customers.
