Job summary

Wallace Montgomery seeks an experienced Structures Engineer for Fairfax, VA or Richmond, VA. You will develop bridge and structural construction documents for Virginia transportation projects, focusing on VDOT and local municipalities.

The role includes bridge safety inspections and analysis of overweight vehicle permits. Required: ABET civil degree and Virginia PE license, 5+ years in bridge design/inspection, and proficiency with structural software.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (ABET-accredited).
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia required.
Minimum 5 years of bridge design and/or inspection experience.
Experience with VDOT bridge design guidelines and inspection procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare structure and bridge design calculations, plans, and estimates for bridge projects.
Assist with or lead NBIS-compliant Bridge Safety Inspections.
Analyze overweight vehicle permits for safe bridge crossing and routing.
Conduct structural modeling and analysis using listed software.
Collaborate with roadway, drainage, geotechnical, traffic and environmental staff.
Support development of construction documents and specs.
Mentor junior engineers and supervise designers/technicians when needed.
