Job Details: Job Location: Virginia Office - Fairfax, VA 22031, Salary Range: $45.00 - $50.00, Wallace Montgomery is seeking an experienced Structures Engineer to join our Fairfax, VA or Richmond, VA team. In this role, you will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team developing bridge and structural construction documents for transportation related projects in Virginia, with a focus on Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and other local municipalities. This role will also include functions like assisting with and/or leading bridge safety inspections and supporting specialized analysis of overweight vehicle permits.

Essential Functions

• Prepare structure and bridge design calculations, plans, and estimates for bridge projects, including new designs, rehabilitations, and replacements.
• Assist with and/or lead NBIS-compliant Bridge Safety Inspections.
• Perform specialized analyses of overweight truck permits to ensure extremely heavy vehicles can safely cross bridges and travel designated routes throughout Maryland.
• Conduct and review structural modeling and analysis using MicroStation, OpenBridge, Brass, LARS Bridge, MDX, and LEAP products.
• Collaborate with roadway, drainage, geotechnical, traffic, and environmental staff to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Support the development of construction documents and specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide quality control/assurance efforts.
• May include supervision of designers and technicians of routine activities and projects.
