Job summary

STV in Chicago seeks a Structures Bridge Group Leader to lead our Illinois Transportation practice. Based in Chicago, you will guide a team delivering complex bridge, highway, transit, and rail projects, driving technical delivery, staff development, and client relationships.

You will partner with IDOT, Tollway, CTA, Metra, Amtrak, and other stakeholders, overseeing design, reports, and construction documents while expanding STV's regional presence and capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program is required.
• Active P.E. license in Illinois and an active Structural Engineer (S.E.) license are required.
• 15+ years of progressive structural transportation engineering experience, with leadership experience.
• Proven track record delivering highway, transit, and rail bridge projects from planning to construction.
• Strong background in structural analysis and design of steel and concrete bridges.
• Deep knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, IDOT and Illinois Tollway standards; AREMA knowledge is a plus.
• Experience leading proposals, interviews, capture planning, and client presentations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the bridge and structural transportation group in Illinois.
• Serve as Project Manager or Design Manager for highway, transit, and rail projects from planning through construction.
• Guide bridge design, rehabilitation, inspection, and load rating of transportation structures.
• Oversee calculations, reports, plans, specs, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Manage scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, resources, and financial performance.
• Build relationships with IDOT, Tollway, CTA, Metra, Amtrak, and regional stakeholders.
• Drive capture planning, proposals, interviews, and client presentations.
• Coordinate resources across offices for large multidisciplinary programs.
• Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain structural engineers at all levels.
• Advance design standards, tools, and innovative solutions.
