Job summary

STV Incorporated in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural assignments for highway, transit, rail bridges and related assets. You will mentor engineers, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and work with IDOT, Tollway, and other agencies from planning through construction.

The role requires a SE license, 10+ years of bridge experience, and strong MicroStation/bridge software skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
Active Illinois Structural Engineer (S.E.) license.
10+ years of progressive structural or bridge engineering experience.
Experience designing bridge superstructures, substructures, foundations, retaining walls, and culverts using AASHTO LRFD and applicable standards.
Familiarity with IDOT and Illinois Tollway standards, procedures, and design deliverables.
Ability to prepare and review structural calculations, plans, specifications, reports, quantities, and cost estimates.
Experience leading design tasks, coordinating multidisciplinary work, mentoring engineering staff.
Proficiency with MicroStation and structural analysis software used for bridge engineering.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver structural engineering assignments for highway, transit, freight rail, and passenger rail bridges and related assets.
Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and mentor engineers.
Work directly with Illinois agencies and clients from planning through final design and construction.
Prepare and review design calculations, memoranda, plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
Support construction through shop drawings, RFI responses, field observations, and issue resolution.
Advance design standards, reusable tools, and technical innovation.
