Job summary

DSI Tech in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Structured Cabling Solutions Architect to lead design from discovery through BOM, SOW, and handoff to delivery. This is a customer-facing technical role requiring deep cabling expertise.

The ideal candidate will create accurate BOMs, assess site conditions, and design copper and fiber infrastructure (Cat6/Cat6A, single-mode and multimode) while collaborating with sales and estimating to deliver competitive proposals.

Qualifications

• BICSI RCDD certification is required.
• BICSI OSP or other relevant telecommunications infrastructure certifications are a plus.
• Experience designing structured cabling for data centers and mission-critical environments is highly desirable.
• Experience with manufacturers and ecosystems like CommScope, Panduit, Corning, Belden, Leviton, Siemon or comparable enterprise cabling solutions is desirable.
• Experience supporting federal, state/local government, commercial enterprise or data center customers is a plus.
• Experience with low voltage systems beyond structured cabling, including WiFi, CCTV, access control, DAS or AV infrastructure, is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in customer discovery meetings to understand requirements.
• Conduct on-site surveys of facilities and evaluate existing infrastructure.
• Design structured cabling solutions using copper (Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber (single-mode/multimode).
• Develop Bills of Materials including cables, racks, panels, enclosures, and accessories.
• Create technical Statements of Work with scope, assumptions, responsibilities and deliverables.
• Produce and review drawings and layouts with AutoCAD/Bluebeam/Visio.
• Review RFPs and construction docs to identify requirements and risks.
• Develop RFIs and participate in discussions to clarify scope.
• Collaborate with sales and estimating to ensure compliant, competitive proposals.
• Hand off designs to delivery with clear expectations; provide on-site support when needed.
