Job summary

Jobot seeks a Senior Estimator- Structural Steel in Stockton, CA to lead bid efforts for multi-story steel fabrication. You’ll review drawings, prepare takeoffs, and develop full cost estimates to deliver competitive bids with PM and production support.

Requires 7+ years estimating, proficiency with FabSuite/FabTrol/Tekla EPM, and solid AISC standards knowledge. This full-time role includes medical, dental, vacation and IRA benefits and a clear path to larger projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of estimating experience.
• Ability to prepare accurate, competitive bids for structural steel fabrication.
• Ability to perform detailed takeoffs and develop full cost estimates.
• Proficient with FabSuite, FabTrol, Tekla EPM or similar.
• Strong understanding of AISC standards and fabrication processes.
• Experience working with project management and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Review bid invitations, drawings, and specs to determine scope.
• Prepare detailed takeoffs for structural steel and related materials.
• Prepare estimate prices on change orders, ensuring proper accounting.
• Read and follow bid instructions and detailed specs.
• Estimate labor, materials, buyout items, and equipment costs.
• Analyze historical data and market pricing for competitive bids.
• Ensure projects meet cost requirements.
• Collaborate with Sr. PM if costs exceed budget.
• Coordinate with Purchasing for vendor pricing.
• Meet with key personnel to align timelines.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and post-bid negotiations.
• Review drawings with Owner/Architect/Engineers to ensure accuracy.
• Document all aspects of projects to protect our interests.
• Implement goals to raise our Steel Fab, Inc.'s reputation.
