Job summary

Project Support Services (PSS) seeks an experienced QA/QC Technical Reviewer - Structural to support LAUSD Facilities Services Division in Los Angeles. You will review structural plans and specifications and provide clear, actionable comments to project teams.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in structural engineering for educational facilities, a California PE license, and the ability to translate complex findings into concise reviews.

Qualifications

• Ten (10) years of full-time, paid professional experience in the structural engineering planning, design, and construction of educational facilities.
• A bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from a recognized college or university.
• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• A valid California Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Responsibilities

• Review structural plans, specifications, and related documents for proposed construction projects.
• Prepare detailed comments on structural design quality, documentation coordination with other disciplines, and adherence to District standards.
• Perform QA/QC, constructability, and peer reviews of projects in design and construction.
• Review proposed product substitutions and deviations from District standards.
• Respond to structural technical questions from Owner Authorized Representatives, Inspectors, Design Managers, and architecture and engineering teams.
• Recommend updates to structural standards, specifications, design guidelines, and standard drawings based on project reviews, research, and lessons learned.
• Help improve the quality, safety, economy, maintenance, and operation of school facilities.
• Coordinate with District design and technical support teams, consultants, architects, engineers, and public agency representatives.
• Prepare clear reports, technical descriptions, and written review comments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
