Job summary

Stratus is seeking a Structural Project Engineer for planning, design, and construction oversight of building and infrastructure projects. This role favors engineers who can take a project from concept to occupancy with limited supervision and who bring industrial experience from chemical plants, steel mills, or manufacturing sites.

The ideal candidate will work with clients, navigate jurisdictional requirements, and autonomously design projects using current technology.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university; structural emphasis preferred.
EIT required; PE a plus.
Experience designing structural systems in concrete, steel, masonry, and wood is a plus.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications aligned with project goals.
Perform structural analysis using software and hand calculations.
Develop knowledge of building codes (State-specific, IBC, ASCE, etc.).
Collaborate with designers/drafters to produce construction drawings and specs.
Conduct field investigations and assessments to document existing conditions.
Develop detailed reports, structural assessments/analyses, and repair recommendations.
Provide construction phase services including submittal review and RFIs.
Achieve project budgets and schedules in coordination with team members; travel up to 10%.
