Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Structural Mechanical Engineer to serve as a domain expert in structural mechanics across SPARC, ARC, and other R&D efforts. You will assess complex designs, provide technical leadership, and work with cross-functional teams to advance fusion-energy projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years of FEA experience, and strong communication skills to influence stakeholders.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience performing finite element analysis in a product development environment.
• Strong fundamentals of computational structural mechanics including nonlinear materials, plasticity, fatigue, solver convergence, and contact.
• Willingness to travel or work nights/weekends/on-call occasionally.
• Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as a domain expert in structural mechanics.
• Lead complex problem solving and provide recommendations through technical leadership across CFS stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff within the Structural Engineering Department and other mechanical engineers conducting structural analysis.
• Assist management in developing and adopting best practices, workflows, and overall strategy.
• Conduct and review structural analysis for various system designs at CFS.
