Job summary

Burnett Specialists in the North West Houston area is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer to join our team. You will sign and seal plans, provide technical leadership, and help maintain design quality across residential projects.

The successful candidate has a PE with 4+ years in structural design, strong knowledge of wood-frame construction, IRC/IBC standards, and experience with AutoCAD and structural software. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

PE licensed with 4+ years of structural design experience.
Experience in residential wood-frame construction.
Strong wood framing, roof trusses, foundations, and steel framing.
Knowledge IRC, IBC, ASCE, ACI, PTI, and AISC standards; AutoCAD proficiency.
Experience with retaining walls, ICF, forensic engineering, and reports preferred.
Strong analytical, communication, research and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

Sign and seal plans in jurisdictions where licensed.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance on structural design, constructability, code interpretation, and field issues.
Develop engineering standards, calculation methods, quality-control procedures, and practical repair solutions.
Resolve construction and structural challenges while supporting clients, contractors, and project teams.
Research building codes, new markets, software, and emerging technologies to improve engineering processes and efficiency.
Review and approve structural designs, calculations, drawings, and engineering documentation for code compliance and quality standards.
