Job summary

Garver Engineering seeks a Structural Engineer in Houston, TX to develop structural designs and documentation for the Buildings Business Line. You will perform analysis, design, detailing, and construction administration for multiple systems including structural steel, reinforced concrete, cold-formed steel, masonry, and wood.

Responsibilities include BIM drawing production, coordination with disciplines, QA/QC, and mentoring junior staff. Strong communication and licensure in Texas preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of professional structural engineering experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or ability to obtain licensure within 3 months of joining Garver.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and a good team player.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural analysis, design, and detailing.
  • Perform construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, site observations, and preparing reports.
  • Utilize BIM design software to produce structural drawings.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Assist project managers and follow QA/QC plans.
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Continue education and learning based on project and team needs.
  • Mentor and train less experienced staff.
  • Assign and coordinate tasks with engineers-in-training and BIM professionals.
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors.
