Job summary

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Civil Engineer with a Structural focus in Virginia to lead design and consulting for water and wastewater projects across the United States. The role supports life safety, constructability, and long‑term performance while collaborating with engineers, designers, and construction teams.

You will use BIM and analysis tools, work in a hybrid environment with two days per week in the office, and pursue a VA PE with SE preferred.

Qualifications

• Education and licensure: ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus; Virginia PE required; SE preferred.
• 8+ years of consulting engineering experience focused on structural design.
• Strong knowledge of structural design principles, codes and standards for buildings, tanks, and infrastructure.
• Experience supporting structural engineering for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design: develop concrete, steel, wood, masonry, and composite solutions for infrastructure projects.
• Prepare design deliverables: structural calculations, drawings, and specifications for coordinated project delivery.
• Analyze infrastructure systems: treatment plant buildings, tanks, clarifiers, pump stations, piping supports.
• Provide construction-phase input and field coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate across disciplines with civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and construction professionals.
• Utilize BIM and analysis tools to support planning and construction through visualization.
