Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company, is seeking a qualified structural engineer to join our hybrid team delivering substation and transmission projects across the US. You will design, analyze, and retrofit lattice towers, monopoles, and related structures.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license and a Civil/Structural degree with at least four years of experience, and demonstrate strong collaboration, safety, and communication skills to support integrated design efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in substation and/or transmission structural engineering.
• Experience with lattice towers, monopoles, wood poles, or specialty structures.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software: PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, STAAD, and RISA.
• Foundation design software: LPILE, MFAD, HFAD, TFAD; Mathcad and Excel calculations.
• Knowledge of ASCE, AISC, ACI, NESC, IEEE standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Structural design and analysis of substation structures and transmission systems.
• Evaluate and retrofit existing lattice towers; develop reinforcement solutions.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications per codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, IEEE, NESC).
• Model and analyze with PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, STAAD, and/or RISA.
• Design foundations using LPILE, MFAD, HFAD, TFAD; manual calculations in Mathcad/Excel.
• Coordinate with fabrication, construction, and other engineering teams.
• Support field visits, site inspections, and project delivery.
