Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in San Juan, Puerto Rico, seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design teams on a wide range of projects — power, process, healthcare, industrial, airports and government facilities — guiding work from concept through construction while meeting budgets and client needs.

You will prepare equipment specifications and data sheets, review vendor drawings, manage project scope and change orders, mentor engineers, ensure QA/QC, and coordinate with field staff for installations

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree and 7 years structural engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• FE exam completion or PE license preferred; strong knowledge of IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead large projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design of projects from concept through design completion.
• Prepare structural equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review vendor drawings and interface data with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedule, scope, and budget; manage change orders effectively.
• Mentor engineers, perform QA/QC, and ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Lead field inspections, coordinate installations, and support testing of materials.
• Build client relationships and contribute to sales and cost proposals.
