Job summary

AECOM is seeking a mid-to-senior Structural Engineer to be based in Denver, CO. The role involves leading design across commercial, industrial, government, aviation, and technology projects, mentoring a small team, and representing the discipline in client meetings.

Expect significant project ownership, exposure to advanced seismic design and performance-based approaches, and a hybrid Denver-based work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
• 6+ years of relevant structural engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Mid-to-Senior technical resource and formal QC owner for structural engineering deliverables.
• Lead structural design on mid-size projects and major tasks on large/complex projects.
• Direct and manage small teams of engineers and technicians (typically 2–6 staff).
• Independently perform and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Perform quality control reviews of calculations and drawings prepared by others.
• Develop structural cost estimates and write technical specification sections.
• Lead or significantly contribute to interdisciplinary coordination and design reviews.
• Represent structural engineering in client meetings and presentations.
• Provide regular mentorship and technical guidance to Engineer I–III staff.
• Perform advanced seismic analysis and retrofit design (including ASCE 41 and performance-based approaches)
• Conduct condition assessments, feasibility studies, and structural investigations.
• Oversee construction administration activities including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site observations.
