Job summary
AECOM is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to be based in Los Angeles or Orange, CA. The Senior/Principal role emphasizes seismic design, retrofits, and advanced analysis across entertainment, commercial, industrial, government, detention, and parking sectors.
The candidate will lead design efforts, make code-based technical decisions, and mentor junior engineers within the Building+Places group while collaborating with large, multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Architectural Engineering required with 8 years of experience or equivalent.
- US citizenship required due to federal contract/security requirements.
- Master's degree in structural engineering is preferred.
- Experience with major codes (IBC, CBC, ASCE 7) is preferred.
- Experience with 3-D structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE).
Responsibilities
- Performs structural analysis and design for diverse projects across entertainment, commercial, industrial, government, detention and parking structures.
- Mentors and guides junior engineers on design tasks and analysis.
- Coordinates with other design disciplines and prepares contract documents.
- Performs construction administration and prepares structural reports and assessments.
