Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for a fully remote role servicing projects in Randburg, Gauteng, South Africa. Lead design for commercial and industrial buildings, perform advanced analyses, and ensure compliance with SANS and NBR from a home office.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's in Structural/Civil Engineering, Pr Eng with ECSA, and 8+ years of experience. Strong software skills (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, Revit) and independent, detail-oriented work style are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in structural engineering design for buildings.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, Revit Structure).
• Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, timber, and masonry design principles.
• Excellent understanding of building codes and construction practices in South Africa.
• Independent, detail-oriented, and able to work remotely.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead the structural design process for new building projects and renovations, from concept to detailed design.
• Perform complex structural analysis using advanced engineering software for steel, concrete, and other materials.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculation reports.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant South African National Standards (SANS), National Building Regulations (NBR), and other applicable codes.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, other engineering disciplines, and clients remotely.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and draughtspersons.
• Review shop drawings and respond to site queries during the construction phase (remotely where possible, with potential site visits if required).
• Conduct structural assessments of existing buildings and propose rehabilitation strategies.
• Manage project deliverables and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Stay current with advancements in structural engineering materials, software, and design methodologies.
