Job summary
Placements24 invites applications for a Structural Steel Design Engineer to join a distinguished engineering firm in Randburg, Gauteng. The role centers on designing and validating steel structures for industrial facilities, with emphasis on detailed calculations and fabrication drawings.
Responsibilities include liaising with fabricators and clients, conducting site inspections, and mentoring junior engineers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in structural steel design and related analysis.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for steel structures using standard software.
- Develop detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for components and connections.
- Ensure compliance with South African and international steel design codes (SANS, AISC).
- Coordinate with fabricators, erectors and clients to ensure design intent is met on site.
- Conduct site visits for inspection and verification during construction phases.
- Review shop drawings and respond to fabrication queries.
- Assist in preparation of tender documents and technical proposals.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians and stay updated on design tech trends.
