Job summary

CareerPoint Staffing is seeking a qualified Civil/Structural Engineer or Architect to join our NYC-based facade team in Midtown Manhattan. The role focuses on assessment of buildings and facades, designing restoration and alteration plans, and preparing permit documents.

PE license is desired but not required. Applicants should have 8+ years of experience with building envelopes, NYC Local Law 11, and familiarity with city codes.

Qualifications

• Four (8) + years of experience in design and construction relating to the building envelope and facades.
• Civil/Structural Engineer or Architect with emphasis on building facades.

Responsibilities

• Assess buildings and facades (facade inspections) and design restoration, remediation, and alteration plans.
• Prepare engineering construction and permit documents.
• Review ongoing contractor work and prepare project documentation for Project Manager.
• Coordinate with Project Manager and prepare reports and correspondence.

This firm is a growing Engineering, Surveying, Architectural & Environmental Consulting firm with offices in NYC and other key cities throughout the US, offering industry expertise and service in the areas of surveying, civil engineering, land planning, structure design and aquatic resources. The NYC office offers industry expertise and services in areas of Façade Restoration, Local Law 11 (FISP), Garage Inspections, Structural Engineering, License Agreement Review, Property Condition Assessments, and Building Enclosure Evaluations.

Description:

Qualified individuals will be involved with the assessment of buildings and façades (façade inspections), participate in designing restoration, remediation, and alteration plans, creating engineering construction/permit documents. The individuals will review the ongoing work of contractors and staff for the completion of project activities (in the field and in the office) and prepare summary documentation (reports, correspondence, verbal communication) for Project Manager review. PE License desired but not required.Based in Midtown Manhattan office.

Qualifications:

• Four (8) + years of experience in design and construction relating to the building envelope and façades
• Qualified individuals can be a Civil/Structural Engineer or Architect with emphasis on the building façade.
• Candidates can be those with façade inspection/ design experience, Project Management experience or a Licensed Engineer (PE).
• NYC experience with façade inspections, building envelope restoration, Local Law 11 inspections and review, garage inspections and review, etc.
• Experience with forensic investigations or engineering as it relates to building enclosures.
• Ability to perform building assessments to evaluate existing conditions of building facades, roofs, and structural systems
• Preparation of work plans, project specifications, building documents, cost estimates and related submissions corresponding to city requirements for permitting.
• Create engineering construction and permit documents in accordance with city, client and company specs
• Understand façade deficiencies and be able to assess the material characteristics and suitability for use in building construction or in other applications.
• Familiar with Local Law 11/98 (FISP) requirements, perform scaffold drop inspections, fire escape inspections, balcony inspections, etc. with understanding on types of deficiencies to be noted and reported.
• MUST be familiar with local NYC building codes
• Computer and CAD proficiency.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architecture (emphasis on building envelopes)
