Job description

We have over 35 years of experience working in the greater NYC area andan extensive knowledge of construction systems and detailing. Our work primarily involves the restoration, historic preservation, renovation, and alteration of NYC's existing built environment.We focus on maintaining the structural and aesthetic integrity of properties, utilizing repair methods to prevent deterioration while protecting the original architectural character of landmark and non-landmark properties.We are experts in theFaçade Inspection Safety Program (FISP), formerly known as Local Law 11/98.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Facade Restoration Architect based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The professional in this role will be responsible for assessing, designing, and managing restoration projects for building facades. Daily tasks include conducting site evaluations, creating detailed architectural designs, collaborating with owners/owners’ representatives and contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and construction standards. The Architect will also oversee project timelines, budgets, and proper integration of design aspects.

Duties will include direct management of projects in all standard project phases,including accurately developing scopes of work, corresponding budgets and schedules, adhere to all regulatory compliances (LPC filings, DOB filings, FISP filings), bidding, and perform construction administration.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality assurance / quality control procedures for projects; for coordinating and working collaboratively with all project stakeholders as well as project participants and vendors to manage the successful delivery of the assigned projects.

Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have experience managing roofing, masonry and historic preservation projects. Technical expertise in waterproofing, conservation, façade repair and / or window replacement is strongly preferred.
  • Should have strong background in general project management including, but not limited to, design, construction, bidding, scheduling and budget management.
  • Proven expertise in Architecture and Architectural Design.
  • Strong Project Management skills, including the ability to manage timelines and budgets effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, or related tools.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field, with a professional license preferred.
  • Minimum five years experience in facade restoration or historical building preservation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Candidates must be effective communicators, possess strong interpersonal skills,value consensus-building in a collaborative work environment, be able to effectively prioritize project-related tasks and goals, and be able to concurrently manage multiple projects and vendors.
  • Candidates must possess excellent time management skills, be process-driven, highly organized and motivated, and oriented toward problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking.
  • Candidates must have working knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations; a general industry knowledge of building systems; as well as demonstrated proficiency in construction project management and delivery.
  • The individual must have the ability to work in a client facing service environment and exercise discretion and judgement.
  • Must be driven, ambitious, who can think logically, make smart decisions, can think about consequences and can plan out several steps ahead, they must be self aware, must have good judgement and above all, highly technical (in our field).
