Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Advanced Solutions Group. Based in one of our US offices, you will lead multi-discipline teams delivering complex design, analysis, and construction packages for high-stakes projects.

You will apply STAAD/ANSYS for structural modeling, coordinate with clients, and develop design calculations while mentoring junior staff. This role requires US citizenship and a strong track record in seismic and code-compliant design.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required to comply with government customer requirements.
• BS or MS Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the design and analysis of structural systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage other structural engineers and drafters through all phases of project planning, execution, and construction.
• Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction.
• Apply design loading to structures utilizing applicable building codes and design codes.
• Design and analyze structures to meet project specific and code requirements utilizing hand analysis and finite element analysis (STAAD and/or ANSYS).
• Develop engineering design calculation packages including static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses.
• Oversee designer/drafters in the development of 3D models and 2D construction drawings.
• Develop construction bid packages including calculations, specifications, and drawings.
• Perform site inspections to ensure facilities are built to contract documents.
• Lead junior engineers and drafters, coordinate with clients and other disciplines, and present findings.
• Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, project management, and marketing.
• Must be able to work independently and within a multi-disciplined team to meet budgets and schedules.
