Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Structural Engineer 3 for its Englewood, CO office to perform design, analysis, and lead tasks on complex projects. Responsibilities include coordinating with multiple disciplines to define system specs, developing technical documentation, and interfacing with customers through design and testing phases.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with structural emphasis.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in modeling, analysis, and design of heavy industrial steel structures and foundations.
• Ability to work independently or with guidance from others.
• Knowledge of industry codes: AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, ACI 318.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• In-depth knowledge of STAAD.Pro modeling, analysis, design, and post processing.
• In-depth knowledge of MathCad, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Experience in preparation and checking calculations and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.
• Lead on less complex tasks and manage portions of a design or analysis.
• Generate complete design specifications for complex projects.
• Coordinate with engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define specs.
• Establish and maintain filing systems for tracking project status.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and subsystem specs.
• Interface with customers from quotation to final design and test activities.
• Conduct site visits, investigations, and analyze problems; propose solutions.
• Verify compliance with engineering standards and test procedures.
• Support development of technical proposals and assess scope of work.
