Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Industrial Center of Excellence (ICoE) within the Property & Buildings line. You will support a broad portfolio across North America, delivering safe, sustainable and technically excellent solutions for our clients.

Based on location flexibility, the role may be Boise, ID or Madison, WI; you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex industrial projects from planning through commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and 5+ years of structural design experience.
  • Proficient in structural analysis software (STAAD, RAM, Risa) and BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Knowledge of IBC/ACI/AISC codes with strong technical writing and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural systems for industrial facilities, including cores, shells, and foundations.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations compliant with codes.
  • Coordinate with architects and disciplines to integrate structural design into plans.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction support.
  • Perform load, seismic and wind analyses; support permitting and client meetings.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Industrial Center of Excellence (ICoE) within the Property & Buildings business line. This role will support a broad portfolio of high-profile industrial, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, battery, food & beverage, life sciences, logistics, and mission-critical facility projects across North America.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide structural engineering expertise from planning and design through construction and commissioning. You will work alongside industry-leading professionals on some of the most complex and innovative industrial projects in the market while helping deliver safe, sustainable, and technically excellent solutions for our clients.

We are flexible on location, and this role may be based in Boise, ID or Madison, WI.

Your Impact
  • A major component of our design process relies on Building Information Modeling (BIM). In particular, the use of Autodesk Revit Structural is one of the integrated collaboration tools used in communicating 3-D design to our project teams, owners, and construction professionals.
  • There is a lot of latitude for decision-making; we’re not interested in micromanaging.
  • We expect everyone on the team to assume ownership of the project's goals and success
  • Design and analyze structural systems for building cores, shells, and foundations, including steel, concrete, and masonry elements.
  • Prepare structural drawings, specifications, and calculations in compliance with applicable codes (IBC, ACI, AISC).
  • Coordinate with architects and other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil) to integrate structural design into overall facility plans.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction phase support.
  • Perform load calculations, seismic/wind analysis, and evaluate structural integrity for retrofits and expansions.
  • Support permitting and regulatory compliance; attend client and design coordination meetings.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural design for facilities or industrial projects.
  • Proficient in structural analysis and design software, including STAAD, RAM and Risa, as well as AutoCAD, Revit, and 2D drafting
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards; strong technical writing and coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE license preferred
  • Experience with Navisworks
  • Experience with food & beverage or federal facility projects; familiarity with BIM workflows.
  • Previous design and consulting experience

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $89,600 - $130,600

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
