Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking a talented Structural Engineer with 8+ years of progressive experience for our Washington, DC Structures Division. You will contribute to all project phases, including evaluation, design, and forensic investigations, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with clients.

The role offers a comprehensive compensation package, including a base salary within the notable range of $106,600 to $149,240 USD, a signing bonus of $7,500, and full

Qualifications

  • MS in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of structural engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, TMS, NDS and related codes.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design tools (RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, Revit).
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • PE license required; SE license preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to remote job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural evaluations, analyses, designs, and investigative engineering assignments.
  • Prepare and review structural calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Assist with project management from concept through construction, including scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver project outcomes.
  • Provide construction-phase support, respond to RFIs, review submittals, conduct site observations, and resolve issues.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through technical excellence.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Structures Division through leadership and collaboration.
