Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) seeks an entry-level Structural Engineer in its Washington, D.C. office.

You will assist with new design, evaluation, investigation, and repairs for existing buildings, performing a wide range of structural tasks in steel, concrete, masonry and wood. The role requires an MS in Civil or Structural Engineering, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • MS in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills required.
  • FE/EIT certification is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE).
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
  • Enthusiasm, teachability and commitment to learning.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with new design, evaluation, investigation, and repairs for existing buildings.
  • Perform structural analysis and design tasks for steel, concrete, masonry and wood.
  • Support on-site investigations and construction administration.
