Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Structural Lead to guide the design of steel structures and concrete foundations for energy and industrial projects. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate detailed design, and perform complex analyses to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.

The role requires a PE license, ABET-accredited Civil Eng degree, and 8+ years in heavy industrial design, with proficiency in major structural software and coding standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) with structural emphasis from ABET-accredited program.
• Eight+ years in design of non-commercial heavy industrial plants/oil & gas with steel/concrete foundations experience.
• PE license required.
• Experience writing/supporting calculations for structural engineering.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis including supports, loads, and design integrity.
• Experience with producing technical drawings and models for industrial plants.
• Proficiency with design codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead junior engineers and designers in structural design efforts and coordinate detailed design phases.
• Conduct investigations, troubleshooting, and resolution of diverse structural issues.
• Perform structural analyses of steel frames, connections, concrete members, supports, and foundations.
• Develop integrated designs and perform supporting calculations for planned work.
• Prepare technical specifications for structural materials and reviews of others’ work.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure timely design.
