Job summary

WSP USA in Salt Lake City seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Property and Buildings Team. You will guide complex building projects, develop drawings and calculations, and ensure code compliance across healthcare, education, civic, and commercial sectors.

You will mentor junior staff, manage small to mid-size projects, and contribute to design and construction administration with a focus on safety and quality. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering or closely related discipline.
• 5–7 years of post-education experience in structural design, detailing, renovation, or seismic strengthening.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Strong knowledge of lateral force-resisting systems and IBC.
• Experience with design and construction administration, including rehabilitation and new design.
• Proficiency with structural software and BIM tools.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural construction drawings, calculation packages, and specifications.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and assess site conditions for code conformance.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, planners, and scientists on project work.
• Prepare technical reports, data visualizations, and presentations.
• Maintain QA/QC standards and deliverables.
• Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
• Assist in scoping and development of medium-sized projects.
