Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join the Property & Buildings team in Salt Lake City, UT. You will provide high-level technical leadership for complex building projects and mentor junior engineers across multiple sites.

You will lead design efforts, ensure code compliance, develop plans and cost estimates, and deliver high-quality reports on time while coordinating with architects, clients, and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in structural or civil design.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• Proficient with structural engineering principles, design/build, and related processes.
• Experience with rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Apply high-level structural engineering techniques across project phases from concept to operation.
• Lead professional structural engineering work and inspect site conditions for conformance with rules and permits.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; coordinate with owners and clients.
• Oversee design, rehabilitation, and remediation of buildings and infrastructure for durability and safety.
• Incorporate advanced technologies and BIM in design and analysis.
• Manage cross-functional teams, budgets, hours, and submissions across multiple projects.
• Coordinate, review and approve plans ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations explaining concepts and recommendations.
