Job summary

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer - Bridges and Transportation in Herndon, VA or other offices.

You will lead design teams on highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, and load rating projects, with a focus on technical excellence and client relations. The role requires 10+ years of experience in analysis and design, PE licensure or reciprocity within 6 months, and a track record in business development and mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS Civil Engineering required; MS preferred.
• PE licensure or reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
• 15+ years of project and client management experience.
• MS Office experience.
• Demonstrated business development and strategic planning skills.
• Strong communication, leadership and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical role on bridge or structural design projects.
• Plan, direct, and monitor multi-discipline projects with technical complexity.
• Establish client relations and participate in meetings.
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document sessions with PMs and other disciplines.
• Ensure deliverables meet standards and are well documented.
• Coordinate staffing and workload across project development.
• Perform QA/QC on bridge plans.
• Provide training and mentorship to staff; maintain PE status.
