Job summary

Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers in North America, is seeking a Sr. Structural Engineer to join our Illinois team.

You will work on complex projects across bridges and buildings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, cost-effective engineering solutions. Responsibilities include design and analysis of steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures; preparing calculations and reports; inspections; and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in the design of bridge and/or buildings.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
• Ability to communicate with clients utilizing excellent written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze steel, concrete, timber, and masonry buildings and bridges.
• Prepare structural calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
• Perform structural inspections and condition assessments.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and public agencies.
• Review construction submittals and respond to field questions.
• Participate in project planning, budgeting, estimating, and scheduling.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, AASHTO, IDOT, and industry standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
